Heavy duty and great for four wheeling.Item works as statedHad this for about a week or two. It is spring in the south or what I mean to say is we’re already starting summer. Spring is a few random days between cold days then we move into hot and humid. So far this cooler is great. The quality is excellent, very sturdy and well built. I would always buy the $40 coolers at smilemart or other places. Sitting in the back of the truck in southern heat you would have 20 pounds of ice in the morning and a nice pool of water to wash up in by the afternoon. Drinks would still be cool but another trip to the store for ice the next morning was evident. So far I have been able to fill it up with 20#’s of ice and about 3 days later top it off. Let it sit over the weekend and added 10#’s then it sat back in the truck again for another 4 days when I grabbed some free ice from a clients ice machine in their shop. I think it will hold ice for seven days as they say on the outside of the cooler. Don’t think there will be much ice in it and don’t know how cold the drinks would be though. I have always been skeptical about these high end coolers but this year decided the business could afford to expense one of these. So far the simple fact that I don’t have to stop for ice everyday is a plus. For one, the cost of ice everyday for the summer working months, which, here in the south is typically from end of April to end of September or into October. So I can already see that if this cooler cuts the ice reloading down to once every three to four days that will be money in the governments pocket as taxes on my income, lol!The cooler size I have is a 30 quart. It is fairly large on the outside but the insulation does come at a price. I prefer Fiji water, just tastes good and this will easily fit two days worth of water and a few cokes or juice drinks with the 20 pounds of ice. I bought the Pelican over the others because I have other Pelican products that I am very pleased with. The Pelican is Made In USA, another plus. Now I cannot tell you if it’s “with global components” or not but hoping for the all in USA. I have not put the cooler through any abuse tests purposely because, well, it’s nearly a $300 cooler and I just can’t seem to get the money trees to grow. The hinges and lid patches do feel, look sturdy. Would they withstand a tumble off the back of a pickup truck? I would hope so but if not buying another cooler to use as a business expense to keep a little more money out of the governments greedy hands wouldn’t hurt my feelings. The seal around the lid looks like a good quality seal and when you latch the lid it is firm but not excessive.Only downfall to a high end cooler is, thieves. I had a styrofoam cooler stolen from the back of my truck before. A $3 gas station cooler so the twinkle in a thieves eyes when they see a high end cooler is obvious. I would recommend this cooler because of the money saving aspect and for the quality of the Pelican. This will literally save me enough money this summer to pay for itself. This is my second Pelican cooler. I have had Yeti and RTIC both hard shell and soft shell. With proper care they all hold ice well but the warranty on the Pelican makes the difference in my book. This is my first Pelican product! I’m a traveling tower technician that is in and out of hotels constantly.. Having grew tired of fast food and paying for $20-40 delivery food, as well was $2.50 for a soda - I made the cost conscientious choice to purchase a cooler and keep it stocked with frozen food and drinks. In the pictures the 30qt is stocked with the following: 6 sodas, 4 energy drinks, 4 big containers of soup (* the ones you find in the grocery store deli area *), 5 frozen dinners, 2 burritos, and 6 packs of breakfast sausage sandwiches...Here’s the best part - it’s being cooled with 2 Pelican 5lb Ice Packs... Which I highly recommend not only for their superior longevity over traditional ice, but for keeping your meals from getting soggy or full of ice water.. These ice packs were only able to get 60% frozen but that’s only because of the cheap hotel freezer I was using, I anticipate getting at least 2.5-3 days of 30-40 degree temperatures out of it with how often I open and close the cooler with the quantity of food and drinks I have in there. During 2 days I maintained a temperature of 30 degreesWeight: This is a heavy cooler, especially when loaded full.. I haven’t weighed it but I would say it feels like 40-50lbs when loaded.Leaks: No leaks like others have reported.Space: you can fit quite a bit in this cooler even slightly past the fill line due to the concave lid.Ice retention: when the cooler and contents re properly prechilled expect 3.5-4 days. You can extend this with ice packs that have a freezing point of 28 degrees or less. The pelican ice packs I’m using not only fit well but work surprising well.. I’ve pulled the packs out with ice froze to them after being in there for a day.I go off reviews for everything which led me to purchase this cooler I got the 30qt. I liked how well built the cooler is. Yes it is extremely bulky which I seen some people didn't like but I don't want a pos that'll Crack or break but it's thick for how much it holds.. but also I feel like i could throw it off the roof onto the driveway 20 times and it wouldn't care.. not that i would but definitely feels thatdurable.. im 200lbs and could stand on the lid and it wouldn't even try to bow or collapse. If you want a work cooler or something that can take a beating rolling around in the back of a pick up and at the same time keep everything cold for days. Look no further its even made in the U S of A. After all the cold beers I've drank out of it I'm curious on what the maximum weight you could put on it wouldn't doubt if you could set a small car on it. Picture is the 30qt next to a 30 pack and a 30 pack would fit in it with maybe a 5lb bag of ice on top is all. Picture has a bunch of ice and beers under itIt doesn’t hold ice like a yeti and that is disappointing but it’s better than my Coleman cooler. It is everything you expect it to be. A premium product at a premium price.A couple things that stood out:*The feet are very “sticky” the unit really grips well and does not slide easily.*This cooler is heavier than it looks. If you are of slight build then you might want to consider a unit on wheels.I love it!•Calidad de materiales, se siente muy resistente y robusta.•A considerar que el color gris no es sólido-como lo muestra la imagen-, tiene variaciones de tono, no es defecto, así es el diseño.•La retención del hielo es muy buena, solo he tenido oportunidad de probarla 4 días y las bebidas seguían frías y tenia la mitad del hielo.•Considera que sigue siendo una hielera, por lo tanto, el hielo tiene perderse con el tiempo, si no se carga suficiente, tiende a consumirse más rápido.I've used this on 6 trips now. It fits perfectly in my SUV trunk.Holds a cold chill for 4 to 5 days with proper ice and ice packs/technique.My wife was so mad when I bought it, now we can't go in trips without it.I even keep it in my car so when I spontaneously do groceries I don't have to rush home. Food will stay good for hours in there, and if you buy dairy or meat, just buy a small $2 bag of ice OR a couple tubs of ice cream they will do the same thing and you can eat em later.Don't look back, buy this now. Enjoy!Sure enough, the day after the Amazon return window was the first weekend we decided to use the cooler. It leaks out of the drain plug when fully tightened out of the box. Pelican support has asked me to ship it back for inspection. These things are huge, what a hassle, buy something else. I've been buying Pelican products for two decades but this is the end.We used this cooler for a two week trip to a very remote back country lake, only accessible by Jet boat. We vacuum packed all of our dinner meals into flat packages, froze them good and lined them up in the cooler. We also pre-froze the cooler with containers of ice. We did not use any ice in the cooler for the trip. Everything stayed completely frozen for eight days, then slowly started to thaw. We open the cooler once or twice a day briefly. The cooler stayed in a metal bear stash in the words in the shade. This was also at the end of September and the general temperature outside was about 17°. This cooler served us very well. We had to count on it to keep our food as it was a four hour trip back to any store one way. We highly recommend this cooler but also recommend keeping it in a cool and protected place from the sunGreat cooler for my needs. Keeps food and beverage cold for 6 days at 25 Celsisus using ice pack.Empty, it might be a little heavy for some people. If you buy one of these coolers, make sure to make measurement of the interior for your needs. I prefer the Pelican latches than the other brand using rubber. Lastly, I got it in special, I do not mind about the flashy green color.Cheers!
