I am a Yeti guy, I'll admit it, I am not afraid to overpay for their products so I was finally interested in taking RTIC for a test drive to check out their "overbuilt, not overpriced" products for the first time. Since you can't see how large these soft coolers are in person, I thought I would go a little bigger to be safe and hope for the best. I received my 30 can and it was nice, seemed like solid construction, loved the color but it was much larger than I had expected. I needed something that could fit in between my Jeep Grand Cherokee's rear seat foot wells for long road trips and there is no way that was happening. Being a big Amazon buyer/reviewer/fan, I of course reached out to start my return because for some reason, they never offer exchanges (which I think is ridiculous but ok) and what do I see? Sure, you can return it, but it's going to cost you $17 for the shipping label because we only offer returns through UPS! I buy from tons of online stores and I have never had to pay, basically, a penalty for wanting to exchange my order for another using the same seller. Mind you, I WAS (the key here is "was") going to return and then buy the smaller version from the same Amazon seller but after realizing they refuse to waive, even for a first time buyer, the return shipping costs, I said never mind. When I reached out to this Amazon seller I'm sure I talked to some rep behind a computer that really didn't seem to care about my purchase or me being a first time buyer. Really too bad this was my first experience with RTIC on Amazon, not a great one. They really need to work on their customer service solutions.UPDATE 9/13/22 - Since RTIC decided not to work with me, I reached out to the amazing customer service team at Amazon and of course they came through, providing me with a FREE return label so I sent this thing off to Texas to RTIC. A great example of the reason many millions come to Amazon to buy products, they are customer first and that is why I will continue to invest here!Stood up just as well as my yeti. Ice can last all day in cool temps, maybe 3hrs in 95+ degree weather. Perfect for kayaking, I used the strap connectors to attach it to the back of my chair.I have been researching soft coolers and was going to get the Yeti flip 8 but had a hard time justifying the $200.I looked at the specs and reviews for the RTIC and decided to try it. I mainly take it with me when I'm kayaking. So far so good, my drinks stayed cold and food stayed cold the whole day.Other than the zipper I love this thing. It come everywhere with meI am keeping it: I was looking for a cooler to keep drinks cold and easy access while driving solo on cross country trips. The zipper is very tight even after lubricating requiring effort to open. My passenger seat is moved all the way forward so the cooler is within reach. I’ll try it out on my next run see how it compares to my old hard cooler with the flip top . I am sure cold retention will be better. I have the 30 can so it will be easy to carry. I will use it more Costco and grocery store runs and probable good for other activities.Not sure if you want this one for solo trips to grab and drive.Very hard to zip open and closed but keeps things cold.Big enough to hold my lunch containers and ice packs to keep my stuff cold. No issues with the zippers like other reviews. Highly recommend this cooler.Perfectly sized for our needs and working great thus far
